How to get started with Hold Mail

To purchase Hold Mail: 

• Your address must be in Canada 
• Your address cannot be a shared delivery location like a hospital, hotel, dormitory or location where several businesses share the same address
• You cannot receive mail through a privately administrated mailbox company

To put your mail on hold, purchase the Hold Mail service at least 5 business days before you want your mail to be held. Service can begin as early as 3 business days after you place your order.

No. Hold Mail is for Lettermail™, Registered Mail™ and magazines only. Packages and prepaid envelopes are not held through this service. See Hold Mail service limitations for a full list of the types of mail included/excluded.

No. During the Hold Mail period, mail pickup is not available at any Canada Post location. To resume mail delivery to your address before the Hold Mail service expires, you must cancel the service.

Canada Post will deliver the mail held for your address on the next business day following the service expiry or cancellation date.
