Effective January 6, Canada Post has reinstated on-time service guarantees and returned to full service levels for domestic parcels. Our network is stabilized and we are ready to serve customers.
Thank you to everyone for your patience these past few weeks as we’ve worked to safely restore normal operations while managing significant holiday volumes. Additional weekend hours have helped us process all accumulated parcels, and we are delivering them across the country.
While we’ve taken care of the parcels in our network, we continue to work through higher volumes of Transaction Mail and Neighbourhood Mail.
Here’s what our return to normal operations means for our customers:
Domestic parcels
- On-time service guarantees have resumed for domestic parcels and are in effect for items inducted as of January 6, 2025.
- Our peak season on-time delivery guarantee modification will be applicable for the balance of peak season, which ends on January 12, 2025.
- We have returned to normal processing and delivery levels across the country, including in rural and remote areas.
- We’re fully caught up on returns and will process new returns based on normal timelines. All return labels created on or after October 15 will remain valid for up to 45 days.
Transaction Mail
- We continue to process accumulated domestic Transaction Mail alongside new inducted volumes. Customers should therefore continue to expect delivery delays of several days beyond our service standard for commercial Transaction Mail.
- We’ll keep customers informed as to when we expect to return to our normal service standards for Transaction Mail items.
Neighbourhood Mail
- With a significant amount of Neighbourhood Mail still to be processed and delivered, customers should continue to expect delivery delays of several days.
- We will provide updates on how we are progressing and when we expect to return to normal delivery standards.
- We are focused on delivering the volume in our network and are not ready to resume date-specific Neighbourhood Mail. We will notify customers as soon as we’re able to resume this service.
International mail and parcels
- We continue to work through accumulated international volumes at a good pace.
- While we continue to accelerate the processing of these items, customers should expect a delivery delay of several days for incoming international items.
Our commitment to our customers
Our commitment to deliver for Canadians and Canadian businesses is stronger than ever. We understand the challenges our customers had to manage during the busiest time of year and as we worked to return to full service levels. We deeply value their trust and we are committed to providing the service they need and expect.
We will continue to keep customers informed on how we are progressing and what it means for their business.
