Negotiations updates

On December 13, the Minister of Labour established a process with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) to assess the likelihood of the parties reaching agreements by the end of 2024. If the CIRB considers this to be unlikely, it would order postal operations to resume and the terms of the existing collective agreements to be extended until May 22, 2025.

For now, there’s no change to our current labour situation

As part of that process, Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) are participating in a CIRB hearing this weekend. While this process is ongoing, there is no change to the current labour situation and our operations remain closed.  

We will notify customers, employees and all Canadians as quickly as possible when it's time for postal operations to resume. We look forward to welcoming our employees back to work and serving the millions of Canadians and businesses who rely on the postal service.   

Commitment to reaching agreements   

Our commitment has always been to reach negotiated agreements with CUPW that would help us better serve the changing needs of Canadians and provide good jobs to those who provide the service. We remain committed to doing so within this new process while also meeting the postal needs of Canadians.
